Work Package 1 (WP1)

The first action towards establishing the THREE-LANKA is to conduct a proper survey at the national, regional, and international levels.
In this regard, the activities of this working package will be performed at different levels and categories.

  • Stage-1: Survey at a national and regional levels:
    • Survey on the Sri Lankan Universities/Institutions for RE undergraduates’ programs This will clarify the Renewable Energy (RE) orientation in the educational programs including the Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs), percentage of practices, and the methodology of teaching.
    • Survey on similar national and regional RE centres This will illustrate the picture of any RE training centres in Sri Lanka and the regional areas including the objectives, the facilities used, the adopted technologies, the training schemes directives, the modules, and the contents.
  • Stage-2: Survey at EU level:
    • Survey on the EU institutions for RE undergraduates’ programs This will complement the Survey and clarify the modern RE orientation in the educational programs including the ILOs, percentage of practices, and the methodology of teaching in EU countries.
    • Survey on similar EU RE centres This will illustrate the picture of any RE training centre in EU including the objectives, the facilities used, the adopted modern technology, the training schemes directives, the modules, and the contents.
  • Stage-3: Survey at the industrial level:

This survey is important to identify the industry needs including:

    • RE adaptation
    • RE needed skills and qualifications
    • SMEs involved in RE industry and enterprises
    • Involved public authorities and NGOs
    • Priorities of RE Business and markets
    • Possibilities of manufacturing some RE components

This different level of survey is essential to show the current status of Sri Lanka and the EU RE sector and the real needs for enhancement and upgrade the competitiveness of the new THREELANKA. The collected data base, the educational and training programs, the modules’ contents, the ILOs, and the generated statistical records with the correlation will be adopted as a benchmark to ensure that the new system of THREE-LANKA is on the right track.
