18th July 2024, we had the incredible opportunity to showcase the achievements of the THREE-Lanka project on a live TV broadcast on News First, Sirasa TV and TV1, MTC Program on “Jathika Mehewara”. It was an honour to share the exciting outcomes of our project with the public. From developing state-of-the-art training centers to empowering students and professionals with cutting-edge renewable energy knowledge, we've made significant strides. We couldn't have done it without the support of EU Erasmus+ CBHE grant, our partners and the dedication of our team.
9th July 2024: THREE-Lanka Project Concludes with Successful Pre-Closure Meeting in Colombo
The THREE-Lanka project, funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ program, recently held its pre-closure meeting, marking a significant milestone in its journey towards fostering renewable energy expertise in Sri Lanka. Participants gathered to reflect on the project's achievements, which include the establishment of five state-of-the-art training centers equipped with remote labs. These centers have successfully trained and certified technicians, engineers, and project managers in solar, wind, and biogas technologies. The collaboration among five Sri Lankan universities has been instrumental in creating a robust foundation for renewable energy education and research in the country. The project's success underscores the potential for international partnerships in driving sustainable development. As the project nears its conclusion, the team remains committed to leveraging the knowledge and skills acquired to contribute to Sri Lanka's renewable energy landscape.
8th July 2024: THREE-Lanka Project Takes a Giant Leap Forward with Successful Visit of EU Project Advisor and EU Project Partners in Galle
The University of Ruhuna's Training Hub for Renewable Energy Technologies (THREE-Lanka), a flagship project under the EU Erasmus+ program, recently hosted a distinguished visit from Mr. Eugenio Delfino, Project Advisor at Erasmus+: Higher Education - International Capacity Building (Asia) at the European Commission and Ms. Seuwandi Yapa, Project Manager at the Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Accompanied by key European project partners, Mr. Delfino embarked on a comprehensive tour of the state-of-the-art training facilities established at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna, Galle, Sri Lanka. The visit provided a platform to showcase the project's remarkable progress in developing cutting-edge training programs and remote laboratories. The delegation expressed their profound admiration for the project's achievements and its potential to revolutionize renewable energy education in Sri Lanka.
3rd July 2024: THREE-Lanka Project Shines at Erasmus+ Info Day in Colombo
The THREE-Lanka Project, a flagship initiative under the EU Erasmus+ program, took center stage at the recent Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) Info Day organized by the Ministry of Education in Sri Lanka. Held on July 3rd, 2024, at the prestigious Hotel Galadari, the event brought together academia, industry, and government officials to explore opportunities for collaboration and development in higher education. Dr. K.J.C. Kumara, the Project Coordinator, presented the remarkable achievements and insights of the THREE-Lanka project. The presentation highlighted the project's success in establishing five fully equipped training centers across Sri Lanka, equipped with state-of-the-art remote laboratories. The team's collaborative efforts with seven local partners and four European counterparts were instrumental in addressing skill gaps within the renewable energy sector. The THREE-Lanka project team extends their sincere gratitude to Mr. Eugenio Delfino, CBHE Project Advisor at the European Commission, Ms. Caldera (Additional Secratary/Development/MoHE), Ms. Sashika (Overseas Education/MoE), and the entire organizing committee for providing this invaluable platform to share their experiences and contribute to the broader discourse on higher education development in Sri Lanka.
